“I’m in My Late 30s, Am I Too Old to Be on the Dating Pool?”
Why you'll never be too old to find love
Earlier this week I spoke with a friend in Spain. She’s a single lady in her late 30s and despite being on multiple dating Apps, things just don’t work out for her.
Technically, she has many men in her “roster”. You know, those who only text after midnight or only show up a couple of times a month. But to conclude, she hasn’t met the right person yet and she fears that she ever will.
Her main concern? She thinks she’s getting older and feeling too old to be on the online dating market right now. I don’t blame her though. I’ve heard an ignorant man once say, “The moment women hit 30, their values decrease.”
Yeah, right.
But I don’t believe in being “undatable” when you’re older. In fact, many have found the love of their love in their second marriage. I knew a woman in Bali who broke up with her boyfriend at the age of 41 and a few years later, she met someone new and got married earlier this year.
My ex landlord, who’s currently 71 is also very much happy in her new relationship. It took her a decade after her divorce to meet her boyfriend.
There’s no doubt that it’s getting harder to find the right person especially when you’re on online dating. But that doesn’t mean it’s not gonna happen.
On the other hand, I notice people who have a harder time in modern dating are the ones who have high expectations. They decide quickly and never give people chances.
Yes, it’s good to know what you want on the first date but don’t forget to have fun too. You don’t have to rush into marriages.
Let me ask you, when was the last time you literally got what you wanted by rushing things out? From what I remember, the more I force something to happen, the more I wouldn’t get it.
Plus, not to mention the awful feeling of being so desperate over something.
With that being said, I hope you stop being so hard on yourself in this crazy messy modern dating. Be kinder to yourself and let time do its thing.
